anyways my decission is between the STI and the EVO. I'm actually leaning towards the EVO8 because it seems to be a tad less common/trendy, cheaper, from what i hear better out of the box, and cosmetically I dig it. I would like to hear some Pros and Cons from a Imprezza site. Mainly on longtivity, warrenty, any real problems when used as a everyday driver. I will be doin light Motoring up in the hills. but other than that its a DD.

Well i hope you don't plan on modd'ing the car. The EVO is nice if you don't want to change anything but the potential of the motor has been mostly used up.

Handling is superb and in a contest it will walk away from the stock sti in the turns so i'm told. It also runs a near insane amount of boost in the motor so don't expect it to run for 200k.

I've been told that the sti is just simply more fun to drive. Its not quite a die hard rough in the handling and the power is a lil better than the evo stock. But the hands down reason i like the sti is its potential for a few major upgrades.

Just my .02

And as i should mention if you should EVER race the car your warrenty with mitsu would be void. They apparently check auto cross listings for cars and refuse service on the said cars, was an article awhile back here. SOA isn't much better if you mod your car either.

Evo or Sti? It depends on what you want. If you want a daily driver, its all about preference. And since you dig the cosmetic look, then I would go with the Evo. I have had this arguement with my friend many times, he loves the evo, I love the sti. Heres what we've learned.

STI: Seems to be faster in a straight line than evo. I guess the evo is much harder to 1/4 mile than the sti. Quality of the car seems to be a little better. But not much. Heard a few rumors about the evo problems mechanically, but nothing confirmed. Cosmetically I like it a lot more, but that just my opinion.

Evo: The Evo is faster in the turns than the Sti. The price is a lot cheaper. $35k for Sti compared to $28-30 on the Evo. It has fully forged internals.

When it comes down to it, you buy the one that you enjoy more. Take them for test drives. I really enjoy both cars and I would say that they are very equal. Good luck and congrates on being able to buy a new car!

The 4G63T motor in a bunch of different variants has over 15 years of tuning knowledge behind it. The 4G63T motor in the EVO8 is the best version yet. 400+hp on the stock bottom end is not unheard of.

Do some homework, then come back. Thanks
Yeah yeah then you must also know there is no replacement for displacement.

Besides the tunes and the race fuels and all that crap it just comes down to personal selection in any rate.

Um actually I think FI is the replacement for displacement isn't it?

To be honest there is no comparision in the two when it comes to ease of modifying the powerplant. The EVO is not only far cheaper to make fast but it is also far easier to make fast from a working on the car perspective. Now changing clutches well we'll leave that one...

I picked EVO. I should be getting mine soon. They have a couple of turbo kits out there that look very good. Both will get you into the 420+whp range for about $2,300-$2,500.
There was a guy who ran a 11.6 on stock turbo....so I have heard.

The EVO really looks better, and that had alot to do with my decision. EVO MR comes out 3rd week of Nov. It has a 6 speed, wieght reduction, better suspension, ect...sounds good to me. But I heard it is about 33k. I might just get the GSR for 26k-28k and mod it anyway, and save money that way.

Let us know what you decide.

They way i see it, its like the battle of money when you get down to it. I've seen 9 second subarus with rediculous horsepower like 740hp but the cost in phenomenal. Both are great cars just choose one that suits you

Its like soobe or something lol

Like I said, the EVO can be made far faster for very little in comparison and to be honest the car your refering to iis great and all but hardly near where the DSM'ers are and even now TurboTrix have put a EVO 8 into the 9's.

Personally I think the EVO is a far better drivers car but I still love the Subaru's and own 2.

Being a DSMer with a 90 GSX, I can tell you that the 6-bolt block is pretty strong and has a lot of part support for upgrading to strong bolts etc (ARPs etc), and aftermarket parts as is the Subaru.. With both, you can get a lot of support as both have existed (although not the 2.5L Turbo) in Europe and you can learn from others mods and problems.

But being that I maybe shopping for a STI or EVO later in the future, my opinion is that the EVO is the better canyon carver and handler,..It seems to be better suited for the tarmac and although you mentioned that the turbo is getting a lot of boost at 19psi, the block can handle it although the turbo is nearing its max potential,..But more can be done with a larger turbo and tuning,..

The STI I feel is the better drag car in IMO,...I think the 6 speed and the 2.5 L is a good combo for power at demand,...Handling wise it may not be as quick or responsive, but better for tire slides and the such,..The STI has better interior to me with lighted gauges and color combo of the seats and appts. Id like to get the STI cause Ive owned a DSM already, and how often do you seriously hit the canyons? Unless you autocross or other, I think the 6-speed and the bigger displacement is better selling points for me,.....

So until the MR comes out, or we get what Japan gets in active suspension in the US, then its up to you,..Being in Hawaii, Mitsu dealerships sucks royally and that MR will be probably over $40k,...

what the whole thing with Mitsubishi possibly going down the drain as a company? I remember reading a while back that the brake lines on Mitsu FUSO light trucks overheatted and would melt, yet there was no recall, getting the head honchos into deep ****.
