STI for sale, possible scam???

Supposedly this STI is being offered for sale. The seller wants to use escrow.com. The circumstances surounding the seller seem a little uncertain and the deal appears too good to be true.

The seller provided a vin # that checks out ok and these photos:

I was just curious if anyone recognized these photos to see if they belonged to someone else other than the seller. Obviously the seller could post pics of any car and a vin # that matched the year, model and color code.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

if you can ask the right questions and get answers, then youll find out if its a scam. but it smells kinda shady if its too good to be true.

well, one quick easy way to find out is to see if he is willing to use your title company.

if youre comfortable posting, i think many of us are curious as to why it appears "too good to be true"... Like is the price extremely low? what are the conditions? etc... Although if you prefer to keep that confidential, im sure we can all respect that.

I hope you do extensive research before forking over the money. iBlue made a good suggestion as well.

Goodluck!

He wants to use escrow.com which seems to be legit. However I suggested that I meet him at the car where I could give him the money in person as well as see the car first hand before I pay anything. He resisted by saying he would need half of the asking price in order to meet me, I said nobody in their right mind would do that. The last email I sent him said if he wanted to sell the car I would meet him asap with cash in hand and he hasnt responded in 3 days, diagnosis...scam!

Oh and the asking price was $13,900

heres the car and info: http://myimprezawrx.blogspot.com/

Is there someway to turn this guy in?

nobody

wrecked STI's sell for more than that.

#1 rule of buying cars: If it looks like a scam, it is.
#2 rule: If it looks like a scam, but you think there's a small chance it's legit, see rule #1.

With the amount of info and the outreach available on the internet, NOBODY sells a car for half of what it's worth, regardless of excuse.

Maybe my slanted eyes are playing with me again, but doesn't it look like the SUBARU on the trunk lid has been debadged on the first pic and then has badging on the second? But IMO, this sure sounds like a scam to me

No way would I do business if he isn't even willing to meet in person. Not to mention there's no way someone would sell it for that cheap.
