Well earlier today I called the local Subaru of Mississauga (in Ontario Canada)dealer to schedule an install of my spt bosal muffler.

The guy refused to schedule me sighting that they don't do work that could void a warranty. Now I was under the impression that a suby part would not void the warranty. *shrugs*

 

Just do it yourself its 3 hangers and 2 bolts.Good luck

it doesn't sound that hard, but i'm going to try one more dealsership. if they won't i'll do it myslef

Would you... no

Would I... yes

By resetting the ecu your car can better take advantage of the new mod installed.

All you gotta do is unplug the negative wire for like 30 min or so.

 

for a muffler you def DON'T need to do an ECU reset

And to the OP, my younger sister installed a muffler on her 2.5 RS by herself a month ago when she got impatient and could not wait for me to do it... and she never even changed a tire before

Large crock of s***! Subaru would like to know about THAT. Take the time to find them (SOC) and write a letter with the dealership AND the name of the person who told you this!

That muffler is completely 'warranty friendly' and will void nothing ~ That is what the SPT performance parts are all about. Idiots.

 

I know, thats what really pissed me off. He reacted quite rudely after I tried to explain to him that it was a Subaru part. I'm gonna send a letter when i get the contacts for SOC.

 

Ahahah, I'm thinking of doing this myself.
After all its only 2 bolts and 3 hangers?
Anyways the Subaru dealers in my area change 96/hour for labour

 

1. back the car up onto ramps
2. remove negative battery cable
3. unbolt the 2 bolts at the rear of the downpipe
4. put a box or something under the front of the cat-back (so the muffler doesn't hit the bumper when you lower it)
5. remove the hanger in the middle of the cat-back
6. remove the two hangers on the muffler
7. put your new cat-back together
8. put new cat-back on a piece of cardboard or a blanket and slide it under the car
9. put front of cat-back on the previously used box from step 3
10. lift muffler into place and connect it to the hangers
11.connect the hanger in the middle
12. bolt the cat-back to the downpipe
13. reconnect negative battery cable
14. start car and listen for exhaust leaks (don't drive off the ramps yet)
15. If you have no leaks you are good to go.

It looks like alot of steps but it's so easy.
