ok...so i just talked to a shop and they said that the subaru of america maintainance book says the 30,000 mile service is a 2.5 hour job. and the one by me wanted 5-6 hours to get it done........hhhhhmmmmmm........highway robbery?????
i'll do it anyway, but i think it's a bunch of BS!!!!!!!
i'm gonna sit there in the waiting room and watch through the windows for 5 hours.........and that guy better never stop working ....not even for a second!!!!
i know i saound like a little b*tch but it's a lot of money for a service. they're not even putting anything expensive on as far as parts go. no oil change, i did that myself. no tire rotation, i did that myself. no air filter.....it's got amean green in it.
ok.........i''m done ranting.....you can remove this thread now.

If you've already done some of the items on their list, why would you pay full price? Did they itemize the work they would perform? Compare it to what's on the maintenance schedule in your book.
The 30K service is mostly fluid (engine, diff/tranny, coolant, brake, washer) changes, change spark plugs, clean brakes, clean fuel injectors (whatever), replace air and fuel filter, balance and rotate tires, and a lot of inspections; nothing really involved other than time.
If I had a hydraulic lift (I hate getting on my back under a 3K# car using "Made in China" jackstands)... and a good collection of tools... and a convenient place to dispose of all the old waste... and a free afternoon... I would do it myself.
