I've got a 2002 Legacy Gt auto trans with 33,000 miles. Just started having a big problem with a very low rough idle (nearly stalling out) and a severe engine hesitation when accelerating from a stop. The problem kind of comes and goes, but never goes away for long. It happens most often when the engine is cold, but does happen when it's warmed up sometimes as well. I had the dealer change the plugs, fuel filter and air filter, and use a fuel system cleaner, but it didn't help at all. I don't use cheap gas, and I've switched brands several times with no positive effect. I've noticed a lot of posts on other forums of Subarus having this problem, but I have yet to see a solution posted. Many of the posts say that resetting the ECU is a temporary fix, but the problem does come back before long. Anyone have any experience with this problem and can lend any advice?
