removed snorkler.....car dies???

I removed the snorkler on my 98rs tonight. Afterwords the car will now only start then it dies. Worst part is that when i put the snorkler back on it does the same thing. Did i damage my MAF some how? I was careful with it but is there something else that could be wrong?

A friend of mine did the snorkel removal. When he washed his car sometimes and got lots of water in the side of the hood, the car would have a similar problem. Water can get in the air intake. I guess waiting for the water to evaporate after a wash is the best solution.
