I have this rattling noise from underneath the car and I can't seem to pin point exactly where it's coming from but it does sound like it's more in the engine bay than anything else. The knocking sound is only noticeable when the engine is idling or in 1st or revearse at low RPMs. I've taken it to the dealership to have it check out and told them to check the exhaust system out to see if anything was loose but they said it was fine and they said nothing else was loose either. You know how it goes when you take it to get checked out and you can't duplicate the noise, well thats pretty much what happened. This noise is really pissing me off. I only have 5000 miles on it. The noise seemed to come around after I launched it hard one time and the tires stuck to good so the whole car just shook till I let off the gas. I have wiggled and messed with everything possible but cant find the source. It's only noticeable inside the car, you cannot hear it from the outide. Has anyone had this problem or have any clue what it might be?

 

Well today was the 4th time bringing my 06 sti in to check out a rattle that nobody could locate. I made an appointment with the regional manager had he found the problem. I had a cracked motor mount. He told me once they crack they go back to putting the 2005 Sti motor mounts on. This is sad considering I only have 5,000 miles on the car.
