Unhappy Pop Bottle Whistle Noise @100 MPH+

Has anyone experienced a loud wind noise coming from the driver side dash board at 100+ MPH? (Sounds like somebody blowing into an empty pop bottle) This is consistant on my 2005 Impreza WRX - Non STI model.

I confronted my local Subaru dealer and got the typical Leave it to Beaver reply "Gee Walley - we can't test drive cars over 65 MPH to find your wind noise problem, why do you want to drive over 65 MPH anyway Walley, Jeapers!"

Appreciate any similar experience and known source of problem - I can be assured that the dealer will not find it on their own cuz they drive too slow!

i believe if you search the forums, theres been a few threads regarding this. but cliff notes version is, i believe, the mirrors. they can fold back, and thus there is a small gap. the whistling you hear is the wind blowing through that small slit.

am i correct guys? please let me know if im wrong.

I've actually heard there was a sticker there when you fold the mirror back.

that happened to me the other day. it sounded like someone was just leaning on their horn. the noise was pretty loud. couldn't figure it out. could it be anything else other than the mirrors?

it is the mirrors. it is common on most late model wrx's. i remember it scared me the first time I heard it. fold your mirrors in and it won't happen

It's the windshield seal. Seems to be a common problem with most Subie models. Some of the FXT owners have successfully fixed it with some silicone sealant. See Peaty's write-up here: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5358
