NYS inspection

I have 2003 wrx, with only one high low cat in me exhaust. The cat is in the mid pipe. Here's the problem... In New York State to get your car inspected they have to plug into your Obd II plug, to check all of the systems. Everything on my car is fine except for the catalyst is showing up as not ready. My quesion is how many cats do I need for this to say it is ready? Also I but a fix on the O2 sensor int the mid pipe to stop the check engine lite from coming on, do you think this could be a problem?

The electrical fixes interfere with the readiness tests. To prevent this you have to use the "mechanical fix" instead.

What is the "mechanical fix"? I have a UTEC, and even though I don't need it, I also have the Perrin CEL fix. This will cause a problem?

The mechanical fix uses spark plug anti-foul adapters to space the rear 02 sensor so it sees less of the exhaust stream. It is a well documented fix both here and at NASIOC. I would not suggest using the Perrin fix in NY or any other state with OBDII inspection as it will probably affect the readiness tests and make you fail.
