Looking for instructions on replacing the fuel filter
I've an '03 wagon and want to replace the fuel filter. Anyone got a link to the steps?
To depressurized the fuel system, I assume I pull the fuse for the fuel pump and start the car until it won't.
Unsure about the rest.
Cheers,
Sean

It is really very simple, I was surprised. There is a thread on scoobymods.com with instructions. Pulling the fuse and stalling the car isn't even necessary, I let the car sit overnight, when I went out in the morning and did the change just a tiny bit leaked from the hoses. As far as the procedure, undo the hose clamps, then take off the hoses and have a rag handy.
dude yu do not even heve to do that, just park it, wait like 5 minutes don't start smoking now, pull off the hoses, pull out the filter do not tip it, **** will pour out, hook the hoses up and lock down the filter and bang you are off, but do not leave the hose to the engine off too long becaue it will **** at you after being off for like fiver minutes like it did to me it was kinda funny actually becaue it was like a squirt gun i really thought it was a joke at first caue like 5 min later this stream of gas shots out like 20 feet, and then nothing.

I think I screwed up.
I changed out my fuel filter last night thanks to these (and Ravensblade-Impreza.com's) instructions. Easy enough. 20 minutes from popping the hood to starting it up. Turned over OK last night when I got the new filter in place. Looked at the hoses, no leaks. I'm good to go, right?
This morning I tried to start my car & it cranks & cranks, slightly sputters, & dies. What can I check?
I'm not a mechanic, but the fuel filter seemed within my capabilities.
This is on a '99 OBS.
Thanks!

Very carefully. I ended up using pliers and wrapping a rag around the hose so I didn't gouge it as much. When I looked at the hoses, I figured "Heck, if I break it, it's not a long length of hose; it should be easy to replace." So with pliers and using a twisting motion, they eventually came off.
I ended up getting mine started, after a day of sitting and thinking on how to solve the problem. Eventually I ended up flooring it as I started the car and it came to life. It still starts a little harder than it used to (maybe one more crank, but enough to throw key-timing off.
