location of fuel filter 2004 Outback

Neither my (non-dealer) mechanic or I can find the fuel filter in my 2004 Outback 3.0. I find one in the parts book, so I am guessing there should be one. Any suggestions. TIA. --dusty

Try the driver's side strut tower in the engine bay. I don't know about the H6, but that's where it is on most Subies.

No joy. Can't find anything resembling the fuel filter on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

How many miles do you have on your car? Not sure if you have found your answer since you posted in January, but the fuel filter is in the tank. Recommended interval for replacement is every 60,000 miles.
