The car is a 93 impreza L wagon, the problem is the car will not shut down. Here is the rundown, when i first purchased the car occasionally when i would turn the ignition to the off pos. the blower would continue to run and the headlights would not shut off right away but after a few seconds they would shut off. I started with what i thought was the obvious, a bad ignition switch. The car eventually got worse, now it will not shut off, the only way i can get it to shut down is to go under the hood unplug the mass air to make it stall and disconnect the battery so it isn't dead when i go back to it. I have replaced now all of the following, entire dash harness, fuse block in dash, ignition switch, battery, alternator, fuse block under hood, harness from computer to engine, harness from fuse block under hood to alt. and lights, computer,(thank god for my parts car) and have tried to start and stop it with the instrument cluster, hvac controls and stereo unplugged, just to eliminate them as a possibility for a short. The last things I am going to try or the pos. and neg. cables and the electronic control unit under the dash, as soon as i can find one that matches the letters on mine. Any help anyone has or ideas would be greatly appreciated before I wind up with the diagnostics bill.
