Insurance Too Steep?

Alright.. I just got back from my local dealership, Suburban Subaru.. I was looking to spend my income tax on a 'certified preowned' 2001 Subaru Legacy, for $6795..
Called up my insurance company, Drive Insurance (also known as Progressive).
For this:
1990 Subaru Legacy LS 4dr sedan
2001 Subaru Legacy LS 4dr sedan
Two at fault accidents, one resulting in property damage of approx. $55,000.
Three speeding tickets.. one at 145 mph on a 65.
All when I was 17 years old.. I'm 20 now.
They want this a month: $674.28
So.. does this sound about good or are they asking too much?
Thanks,
Marc
Also, what do you use for insurance that may or may not be cheaper then mine?

Wait til some of that stuff falls off your record since it's about the 3rd year is the best way to go. You would be able to afford a better car by then with the money you will save. Just my $0.02

as mentioned above, keep your $. Just think about in 2 years what you'll be able to do with the 600 per month you'll have to spend on insurance. As mentioned, it's a wonder you still have insurance, and/or a license. I got dropped by my insurance company and almost got my licence pulled for going 100. I've heard that cops won't bother chasing you if you're going over 120, but I guess that's not true huh.....

I just got a ticket saturday. 46 in a 40. WTF. I seriously thought it was 45 also.
Just save the money.
I hated myself after I bought a new car. I was drive a POS and paying 100 bucks for it. Got a new civic (back in 2k) and it jumped to 350 which was more than my payments. Took all the fun out of having a new car.
When my accident fell off my Insurance dropped to 250, but I had gotten some tickets in the mean time. So I think that the points were the same, they just look at accidents different??
If it was me, I would wait the couple of months till they fall off. I would guess that your insurance will be down to a 1/2 if not 1/4 of that quote.

46 in a 40??
you got ticketed for 46 in a 40??
Shame on YOU!! You criminal. It's a darn good thing there's cops out there to get filthy animals like you off the street.
Funny, in Boston (where there's actually crime), they won't touch you unless you're 15 over, they've got better things to do.
When I used to live in Appleton WI though (people to cop ration 3:1, people to cow ratio 1:3), they'd pull you over for ANYTHING though (failure to signal, rolling stops, 5 over, etc).

dude, ride a bike and buy a 100k condo in another state. Between rent and the money you are wasting on insurance, you could actually get a nice investment.
