any dealer can show me invoice but i know thats not what dealers really pay. if it were so then why would they ever sell a car for invoice. there is a secret price and i would like to have written proof of it. i guess i will never get it because it would just ruin dealers. thanks gdogg but that really doesnt help.

all that information is disclosed on websites like www.kbb.com and edmunds.com.
if u search in the rebates/incentives link it will show you exactly how much to deduct from the invoice as well.
*on another note i can show you an exact receipt of what we pay our distributor for our cars(after u buy from me and i ship it to where you are
) and i can promise you this- the sti costs more than 27,000 dollars. but keep in mind that dealerships will often have incentives(internal or external ones from SOA,SOH etc.)as i have stated before from msrp- the mark up is not as HUGE as everyone thinks it is. in fact some subarus have more profit margins than others. the sti does have the highest margin though. i feel that getting a good and honest deal is important. but sometimes i feel that people that try to get certain cars below cost on a car like the sti. . . no offense intended. . . should shop for a budget type of car. because if someone is that price conscious. . . they also have to consider the many other costs of ownership invloved as stated in another thread here.
hopefully you are not offended by what i say, but i understand your point of view. to have dealt with a "shady" dealer leaves a suspicious bad taste in anyones mouth.

i'm not threadcrapping, but it is naive to believe the salesperson will honor his word. come on, we all know what the reputation of car salespeople. even if you can show him an dealer invoice under 30K, i can 99% guarantee he will try to "explain" what he really meant or simply deny he ever said it in the first place. i wouldn't waste my time with that loser because in the end, you'll be the one who lost out your time trying to find an invoice. just my .5 cent.

It might sound strange but the dealers are actually in business to make a profit. By the way, the holdback is around $900. If they sell it for invoice they still can make some money. However, on a limited production car like the STI they usually
wont have to do that.
wont have to do that.

edmunds has 05 invoice price
You can look up the invoice price on edmunds.com now. They have the invoice listed as $30,000 exactly. The dealer did not lie to you. Nor will he have to sell you the car for $27,000. According to edmunds, the price people are paying for 05 STI's right now is $500 over MSRP. So, if you could somehow get it for $30, that would be a great deal. $27k is not going to happen. Maybe you could go and scratch the car at night and then get them to sell it to you for $27000.
Why would a dealer want to lose $2100 on a brand new high demand item? I know I wouldn't want to do that. So even with a $900 holdback, and $500 over sticker, the dealer is making $5400 profit or so, plus the profit from the financing... or would they rather lose $2100 and sell it to you? Which really is losing $7500 since they wouldn't be making their profit. I guess you see where i'm going with this now.

There are good deals out there on new STI's, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. I got my 05' STI for $30,500 + T/L (with auto-dimming mirror) Also, be sure to check the financing rates out there carefully. Prior to my purchase I had read that the best rates people were finding on STI's was between 5% to 7%. I shopped around and managed to get 60 months @ 3.84% saving me even more $$. Do your reserach, wait until ther right deal comes along, and when it does be ready to jump on it.
One thing you gotta realize...these guys have got to make a living too. I'm not a car salesman or anything. Its like how many subaru salesman do you know who are living in mansions? I'm like everyone else in that I like a bargain but you can't expect peeps to just give you stuff at cost. If you were in their shoes you'd be trying to maximize profits as well. As long as they're not being deceptive, that's what the game is all about...in any business.

Can someone please tell me if I was correct and give me some proof or evidence what the dealer really pays so that i can get this sti. The place i am talking about is Subaru of Schaumburg which screwed me over plenty of times and from what i have been reading, others too. I would love to make them lose just a little bit of money so can someone please help me?

Whenever I buy my subarus, I go to Ron Price in S. San Francisco. I've got both of my car 500.00 over invoice. No problems. I bought may wife's Outback wagon, and my Impreza that way.
Check them out. They also do sales over the inernet. They find the car you want, and have it delivered to their dealership.
ASk for Charles Goldfrit. He rocks.
