I just got this email for a RECALL

Service Program WWQ-01
April 2004
Dear Subaru Owner:

Subaru of America, Inc. has determined that your vehicle may have been manufactured with a cruise control cable that could come out of its track on the cruise control lever and lodge on the control lever tab when the accelerator pedal is released. If this condition occurs, the throttle will not return to the idle position and instead will remain in an open position. This condition could occur at any time without prior notice, even while the cruise control is turned off.

If you encounter this condition while driving, place the transmission gear selector in the neutral position and carefully steer the vehicle to a safe place on the side of the road. Do not operate the vehicle. Contact the nearest Subaru dealer immediately.

To correct this condition, Subaru will install a cruise control cable retaining clip at no cost to you. Please contact your Subaru dealer for an appointment to have this repair performed at no cost to you as soon as possible.

Your continued satisfaction with your Subaru is important to us. Please understand that we have taken this action in the interest of your safety and your vehicle's proper operation. We apologize for any inconvenience this matter may cause and urge you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to have this repair performed.

Sincerely,

SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC.

Has anyone got this done yet??

There's already been like a million threads on this.

I've got mine fixed. It was painless.

About 30 seconds or so I'd guess - it's just a little plastic(?) clip to keep a wire terminal in place. If the wire works loose over time and you engage the cruise control, it will be stuck in accelerate mode until you disengage it.

It's an unlikely but potentially dangerous safety issue that they're proactively fixing, to your benefit as well as theirs.

Edit: Mine got fixed as part of a routine maintenance a couple of weeks back - as painless as a beating with a soggy noodle. (Just don't ask how I know that )

Bonkers.

I really don't feel like taking of some of my mods before I take my car in to be fixed for this recall. I know they will still fix the problem even if I have mods. My question is, do you think the dealership will take note of my car's mods for future use if I come in for a warrenty claim?
