Cool How to identify engine?

I have a '91 Legacy sedan (2, actually). My 4wd manual one needs a head gasket. However, the previous owner dropped in a newer engine from Japan with 40K on it (the old one had 189K).

How can I identify the engine so that I buy the correct head gasket for this project?

Thanks,

Stephen

The basic engine code will be stamped on the block, in the center, on top towards the transmission. But, that doesn't give the exact engine code. It may, though, be all you need for a head gasket replacement.

Smile Here are the numbers

Thanks. I found these numbers on stickers where you suggested. They are:

328497 and

IT-TY752VA1AA

Any idea how to interpret them?

Thanks for the help.
