If you were getting a misfire the ECU should throw a CEL and the code should tell you that a misfire had occurred.

/\ What he said. If you had a CEL (Check Engine Light) you could check the CEL from the diagnostic port located under the dash on the driver's side.

I second that motion. Same thing happened to me, my RS started misfiring and quickly threw a CEL. Looked under the hood, #1 spark plug wire was arcing (is that how spell it?) to the intake manifold. Corrosion in the wires.
