Smile Heater turns cold when car not moving?

My 2003 WRX has a new odd problem. Even after its warmed up, my heater doesn't blow hot air until the car starts moving. then after driving, if i stop at a red light for even just 30 seconds it starts blowing cold again. And it doesn't matter if the defroster is on (turns on the A/C right?). The car never overheats, the temp guage never goes outside of the normal range its always stayed in.

I think that it might have started happening after i had my air conditioning recharged, i'm not sure.

Its really annoying since its cold out now and i'm trying to sell the car, so i need to get it fixed anyway.

anyone have any ideas???

thanks, Benji

follow up: I talked to a Subaru tech today and it suffices to say that i believe i've fixed the problem. I took the cap off the radiator and revved the engine a bit, added some fluid to the reserve tank and bubbles came out the top o' the radiator. He thought there might be some air trapped in the system and i think he was right. Its friggin cold here now, around 5 below the freezing mark and the heater worked splendidly tonight.

lates, Benji out

I had a similar problem in my first car (92 subaru leg turbo) and I had the same solution your probably good to go, if that doesnt solve the problem, check your fuses, and the heater core, some heaters have a fan inside the core to help push the air out if its a complex system, I had a buick that had that fan go, and the only way to get heat in the car was to let the outside air force the warm air into the car. just another possibility
