Has anyone tried the MotoMan method?
Just curious? Has anyone tried his break-in method as described on the mototune website and got a dyno run afterwards? Also, isn't the break-in period for the transmission as well? It's too late for me, since my 06 is now pushing 6K miles (egads!).
I did it with a brand new integra type-r motor from Honda in my old civic. The resuts were 1% leakdown across all cylinders. Worked like a charm. The motor was very strong and the oil stayed clean for 2k miles after an oil change.
I recommend the motoman break-in to everyone who asks me how to break-in a motor.

We were discussing this over on one of the dirtbike forums that I am a lurker at, and it stirred quite the controversy... but there are alot of people who swore by it.
The list of differences between a flat-four turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a 1.3 liter motorcycle engine is absolutely tremendous. Assuming that one method (breaking in a dirtbike) is good for any other piece of metal that combusts fuel and turns it into crankshaft torque seems foolish; using a method to break in $5,000 dirt bikes on your $26,000.00 car seems doubly so.
Another big difference - the life expectancy of a dirt bike is probably < 10,000 miles. Even road bikes are considered by many to be high mileage at 30,000 miles.
The motoman method optimises the ring seating and compression at the expense of thrashing the engine and transmission when they are brand new. The guy where I bought my CBR600 said that the motoman method was ideal for track bikes and performance. But for a daily driver, a steady running in would give better long term smoothness in the transmission.
The flip side to this is that motoman's method is to only thrash it for the first few miles; the question being: how much damage can you do in the 1st 5 miles? I dunno.

I wonder how much damage is done when driven incorrectly during break-in....I looked at purchasing a car that had 100 test drive miles on it. Whoa.....wait a second....ok, those were some hard miles...I mean come'on....I pinged test drives off the redline.......lol.....
I know someone got into that car at some point, and was like....Yeah...sure I can drive a stick....GAH.
