I have a 2004 Outback with the H6 3.0. (28Kmiles) It has a rattle (rock in a tin can sound) in the front (right?) side of the engine, at idle, when the engine is hot. The dealer told me it was normal and was caused by the air assisted injectors????????
Anyone have any ideas? Is it normal or should I find another dealer?

H6's use a timing chain instead of the belt. 9/10 it is coming from the chain. It became loose or something is in there inside the cover.

 

Thanks for the advice. I went to a different dealer and they replaced the right timing chain tensioner. Nice and quiet again.
