I'm considering buying a 1999/2000 Forester. This is not my 1st Subaru (I had a 1981 4WD GL wagon and currently own a 1995 AWD Legacy wagon). I test drove a Forester S today. I generally liked it, but the back seat was like sitting on a board, it was terrible. Is this the way they all are or was this just a lemon? Even the old GL was more comfortable. If this is the way they are, then I'll look into something else.
Any thoughts?

forester back seat....
I don't find the back seats uncomfortable, that one could've just been badly abused or something. Of course, this begs the question of: It's your car, how often are you going to sit in the backseat? (and if your friends are too lazy to get their own cars, they should be thankful that you're generous enough to give them a ride, and quit complaining).

'nuff said. And you don't want to pull the "well then get your own car" line, since that could backfire like nobody's business in about 12 seconds ! 
Seriously though, the backseat is not a problem I've really heard much of from customers, and I sell these every day.
