dealers didn't budge about price...
on an 04 wrx even though i told them the 05 will be here in a month. so far the best offer i got was 24.750 otd for 5-speed w/ premium package, auto-dimming mirror, and security system. How do i make them go down to 24 otd?
Tell you what works with me...Go in there, talk with them for a while see how far you can get them down, then ask for his/her business card, write your name, number, and $24,000 out the door on it. Then hand it back and tell them, Here is what you are willing to spend, get w/ your manager and if you can do this call me within a day or two. And then walk out.

I'd write an even lower number than that, nothing crazy but if you put down 23-something.......you will get a call back......I3eXa has the right idea though.

the sales rep i was working with is no longer with the company. what are the chances of that happening during one week. now i got a sales lady that calls me to discuss prices and for me to call her back. what can i use against her. can tell her about gas prices and stuff. i dont want to drive 15 miles to that dealership, i wanna continue this over the phone because i already dealt with that other guy that is no longer there. what else guys? what can i tell her over the phone besides me not being in a rush. and im just waiting from a dealership that will give me the right price?

since some of you don't really know me yet-
i sell subarus at subaru dealership out in hawaii-
heres my tips and advice- either the dealer will budge or not.
you guys need to understand that 750 dollars is worth the same to a dealer as it is to a customer. so what am i saying? offer a fair price to the dealer and at the same time(i know saving money and not getting ripped off is important) go research on what you should pay- yes coming in here is good-
but i will preach this to everyone in here-(again and again)
go find the invoice price of the car u want(match all equipment) and take that to the dealer and offer them a decent amount over their cost. grant it not everyone pays the same but at least u will know that you researched your car before paying for it.
flyBY 11- try this route, tell the sales rep that you would rather have all the prices worked out prior to you coming in.(whether email/fax...whatever) its either a yes or no. i know most dealers would rather have the person present when negotiating a price over a car.
if you would like any further help you can always reach me

On another board a guy who works for a dealer said they were getting 3k in rebates and discounts at the dealer on the 04s. You could probably do better than that price just by calling aound. You should be getting below invoice on that car since th invoce price includes the dealer holdback of 750, plus the 750 cash back available onthat car, plus incentives to the dealers that we don't even know about to get rid of the 04s. Good luck, dude.

invoice on this car is higher than you need to spend. go to kbb.com, look up invoice, price in ootions, and offer $500 under that. they are still making money and you are getting a good deal

the invoice on a 5 speed w/ premium package, auto-dim mirror, and security system upgrade was $24,7xx. The sales rep that worked w/ me that is no longer there gave me a price of $23,000. I did end up calling the next sales rep, the lady, at 215pm yesterday. i told her that i want it for $24,300 or $24,500 OTD. She said she would speak with the manager and see what she can do and where they stand with the car. she said she would try to call me that afternoon, but never did. i think she will not call me back or if she does, she will make it sound that it was difficult to get me that price by making it take a day or more. i know how sales work. i also know that different sales people get you different results. whatever, i probably wouldn't buy the car either way. i need more money to feel secure.

Not exactly the same but I talked to the finance manager about getting into an sti..he asked what I knew about them. I told him that I know what I can get it for in Arizona. He asked what I told him 30k otd loaded. He went very quiet. I then told him that I know they need to make some cash. the told me that he could get me in one for 31k. thats pretty good considering they are getting people for 40k+ here. He got a good laugh when I told him that I know about the car and I'm not some dumb**** that didn't do any homework and will just ask how much and agree, when the dealer says 40k.

i dont know why you guys even hassle with the dealers. i live in south carolina and i have a guy in atlanta who can get me invoice plus $500 on virtually any car, any model. all i have to do is go pick it up (2 hour drive) once he finds it, which usally is pretty quick. my dad in louisiana found another guy that does the same thing in oklahoma. the guy just asked for gas money to drive it down and $500 over invoice. my dad said he saved thousands. surely theres plenty of people like this around. they can arrange good financing also if needed.
i had him price an '04 sti for me about 3 or 4 months ago with the options i wanted and he gave me a price more than $2000 less than what the dealer was offering. thats well worth the 4 hours of driving to atlanta and back. he also offered to deliver it to me for the price of gas and a rental back to atlanta. my dads guy happened to have family nearby where my dad lived so he just charged him the gas money for the trip down.
ask around in your area. search the web. more and more of these guys are popping up. just be sure theyre legitimate businesses. all it takes is a little research.
just my .02
