???Damage windshield repair???

Well after I fix the starter problem I notice my windshield is crack a little due to some small stone. It's about 1/2" diameter max. nothing major.

The question is should I repair it myself? if so where should I look for these repair kits? I"m looking for something between $10 to $20.

If not how much would a professional repair shop charge? If it's like $30 I won't mine but if it's like $70 to $80 than I would just glue it up myself and hope it would spread.

like I said it's only like 1/2" max and it only crack through half of the windshields thickness.

thanks

Suggestion: talk to your car insurance company. Many companies now "ask" that you use a repair facility rather than replacing the windshield, as it is a lot less $$. Your company may tell you of places/people who do these small repairs. Warning: as a fellow NYer: fuzz will cite even small defects on the windshield as "unsafe", especially if they are in a nasty mood. As it happens, my brother, 3K miles away, does this kind of work as an after-retirement "keep busy" business, with a franchise outfit. Can't remember the names, but I have seen ads in various newspapers/mags for such.

Good Luck!

just call your insurance, if they cover it they'll tell you where to go, or if you have a preferred shop, they'll call em up and set up a claim, all you have to do is show up

I think they can fix a 1/2 diameter crack with that windshield repair kit. Any thing beyond 1" is a windsheild replacement. $180 out of pocket for a new windshield, my insurance people where A@#ho)& about it.
