freecreditreport.com

the idea behind a site like that is that you must be looking at your credit because you're trying to buy something, so they have tons of ads and "check here to here about great offers from so and so". The only thing I'm not sure about is if they make your info available to lenders just because you filled out a report. If so, stay away. tons of lenders pulling your FICO is bad for your credit score.

Actually, the goal of freecreditreport.com is to get you to buy their annual "credit protection monitoring" service. For like $80 you get unlimited access to your credit report and they notify you every time there's a change to your report. There's really no legal room for any shenanigans with your credit- bad, bad things happen to companies that use it inappropriately.

Corbic, Leases are usually a good idea if you plan to keep the car beyond the lease term, or if you won't mod and won't go over milage and know you want something different in 2-3 years. That $189 wouldn't stretch much past $200 a month after tax, and interest is ALREADY included. Compare that to a 60 month financing on almost $20k and see how the payment compares. Leases aren't a bad deal if you plan ahead.

Are you going to pay full retail or something? ick, dude.

I paid $23,200 for my WRX brand new in 2003. You can easily get that deal or better. You just have to negotiate, or find a bad *** sales guy (*cough ericdared*). And honestly, you can get a new EVO for $26k. I've seen em here in Sac for that much.

Yeah, you'll still be at 23k OTD but your looking at a 05 w/warranty and all the new features.

If your looking to get a used one I'd be looking to spend 17k at the most to make it worth the mileage.

evo

EVO looses a lot of the practicality you get in a regular WRX.
And you can EASILY get a base WRX for under 22. if you'd like to pay 23.5 for one, I think myself, and about 400 other dealers on this site would love to sell one for that, but if you do your research, you won't pay that. Not by far.
Of course, it IS 271HP.....

As a sport-driven car, the Evo is superb. As a commute/get the groceries car, it gets old fast. The turning radius sucks, the ride is stiff, the steering requires two hands and all your attention, no cruise control... lots of weaknesses compared to the STi. Strictly from a practicality standpoint, the STi is a much "nicer" car and gives up almost nothing in performance. Less than what most of us can get out of it anyway.
