TS.. but

it is a TS, it's pretty much a strippy. As long as that's OK with you, with the money you save, you can put in a decent stereo system, slap on some nice stock WRX wheels or something, etc, and replace the crap mods on there with stock stuff (available super cheap here) or nicer aftermarket stuff.
That having been said, the TS is a discontinued model, and if they get it back, it's a REALLY unwanted car. That car would sell at an auction in your area around 7500 according to Manheim, assuming average condition.

If it comes back, that means they couldn't get $7500 for it at auction. Don't give them a penny over 9K. IMHO of course. Keep in mind that you have ALL the bargaining chips in this situation. It's a rare day that a dealer takes a TRUE loss on a car (it's happened to a store I've been at maybe 5-6 times in almost 4 years) , but this is one of those times where if you go in at 9, and stay at 9, they'll spend as much time as they dare trying to get more out of you, but eventually, they'll probably sell. Stick to your guns and you might just get lucky!
happy negotiating!

75K ain't high for an RS

75 K isn't so bad for an RS, but you're right to be nervos about the price. It is too low. Is it on a dealer lot, or a private seller. Occasionally (OCCASIONALLY) private selllers dont do enough research, and sell a car too cheap. Dealers never make this mistake. If it's on a dealer lot, and the price is too good to be true, it is. It's either 1) a scam, which I'm sure you know all about from the other thread in this forum or 2) it's got body work/collision damage or 3) blown head gasket.

Car Info: 2.5RS STI swapped
I personally wouldn't go for the 04 TS wagon. But I'm not into the body style and not really into wagons. I'd go for the MY00.

I just purchased my second GC 2.5 RS. I paid 8.5k for it. It had the hood and bumper replaced when doods "wife hit a pile of dirt." I was kind of skeptical but I took it to another mechanic and they said it looked great. It has 80k miles and seems to run really strong. Came with a Borla header, Magnaflow muffler, Rota 17" attacks with new tires and the 16" stock wheels with new Falken tires. Cusco sways and links. KYB struts and ground control springs and an extra set of JIC FLA2 coil overs. 02 WRX seats. I felt the same way but the car runs hard. Runs strong. I'll hopefully be swapping out the engine for an EJ20 USDM so I wasn't terribly worried about the engine. Deals can be had. Maybe the prices on GC's are dropping.

I will say off the bat I noticed the STI side skirts and clear corner and bumper lights. So I'd say the previous owner ran that thing hard. Hopefully he maintained it. Are the tires on 16" stock rims RE92's? That'd be a good guess wether or not he replaced the wheels with his own. Might give you some idea of the history of the car anyway.

Check carfax.

cheers

garrett

"Well Qualified Buyer" usually means high 600 credit score, if not in to the 700s. Leasing, IMO, is a bad idea and I wouldn't do it.

And make sure you can stay within that mileage. And you don't want to modify your car. And it will never, ever get a door ding, or you'll pay.

Leasing is a great option if you intend to keep the car longer than the term of your lease. I would keep the lease term to 36-48 months if you do go that route. I bought my Rs on a 36 month Subaru lease, and it saved me over $100 a month, plus if I had given the car back I would have made $2000 selling it to the dealer, because my residual was lower than the cars actual value, even though I was well over the milage limit. Leases are trickier for the average buyer though, because the ways of getting more money out of you are less obvious on the bottom line. Just erememebr that a lease is completely negotiable like a standard purchase. PM me if you want some tips on lease bying. Remember, this is only really useful if you plan to keep the car well past 3 or 4 years. If not, just do standard financing.

Deal is $189 a month, $0 down, $0 due at signing, $0 first payment. 24 months, 24k miles. "Well qualified buyers". O_o?

Some how I figure there are some number games going on here. I doubt this includes estmated sales tax, intrest and the fact that I have no idea what a "well qualified buyer" intails. $500,000 a year income or bank has still not decided to take your stereo? Well to me soulds like "less then good" but that can't be what they mean.
Find out what the residual value is for a 24 month lease. Also, interest is included in that price but not tax. You'd pay sales tax on the $189 every month, unless you live in a non-sales taxed state. Still not a large sum. 24k miles isn't a lot for 24 months though; I'd get them to drop the milage charge to $.10 instead of $.15 or $.18 that it probably is. "Well-qualified" basically means a non-first time buyer with a 600+ FICO score. If you bought a car and had credit cards without screwing any of your accounts up, you probably have a 600 score.

Smart Buy

Smart Buy, 2005 2.5 RS M/T $169/MO $0 down 48 months.
24 month lese = bad idea. After that you have nothing, and you will likely also get hit for over miles, dings, etc. Plus you can't mod (all mentioned above). Smart buy, and it's your car.

It's actually a 48 month lease for 189 per.

47% residual. 12k per year. Money factor = .00065 (really good)

Minus 2% on the residual for a 15k lease.

700 + credit score to qualify for that payment.

If you can stay within the miles and not mod your car (unless you plan to buy it afterwards) then leasing is a really good thing. No chance of being buried, just turn it in. You just have to make sure and follow the rules if you plan on turning it in.
