Cold weather for turbo, intercooler

Is there anything I need to take extra precaution on turbo or intercooler during the icey/snow weather? I never own a turbo car before and none of my friend has a turbo car neither …

I'd make sure to warm it up extra long on those nippely mornings.. My friend has an 06 WRX and threw a CEL cuz he didn't warm up his car long enough in the morning. Other than that, I noticed when i took my STi to the snow, the turbo spooled much faster, yet didn't really slap too much power to the ground (i duno). The cooler it is, the more your turbocharged vehicle likes it (driving wise). Just make sure your givin it the proper love when warming it up, and you'll be all good.

Be sure to clear the ice/snow from the mouth of the hood scoop. Even in freezing weather, it is possible to heat soak the I/C (meaning, it is not doing its job) without the air passing through the vanes.

cold/snow creates a problem. the turbo likes cooler air resulting in a little more power and/or faster spooling, but the snow creates much less traction

+1 for extra warming up time. We dont get snow but we get near freezing here and I have to go outside in my pajamas in the morning to turn on the car and then come back inside to get dressed and gather up my isht for the day

the turbo loves that coldness, the tires don't.

I use my turbotimer to warm my car up. Turn car on, set timer for 2:30, go back inside.
