buying new or used?
I would like to know should I buy a new subaru? I dont plan on paying all of it up front. Since I will be working and im only 16 I dont need to pay rent or anything like that I figuare I can pay monthly. Does any 1 here know what the rate is on a STi? If any dealers are here can you help me out by telling me prices an what not? thnx.

This decision depends entirely on your parents, since you can't sign any contracts on your own. Also, don't forget to make sure you can afford insurance as well. WRXs are expensive for young drivers, and I imagine your insurance on an STi wouldbe higher than your payment.

Like you, I want an STi. Now that my current car is paid for, I wait until the end of this year when the first batches of STi's show up on the used market (and some are slowly starting to trickle on) and ****** it up with low to average miles for four or five thousand less than new (maybe more depending on demand and the market). Add to that the resale value of my current car (which I'd still be upside down on if I had bought it new) and you can knock off another $9-10k. So I wind up with a year old STi. Someone else has already done the breaking in, taken the $5k depreciation hit for me, had it back to the dealership for any silly inconvienent problems from the factory, it's still under full warranty, I've bought it for, say, $26k, put $9k down on that and wind up with the same payments I had for the '00 RS.
Just takes a bit of patience. The car will be there, they always will be.
Good luck whatever you decide!

Insurance?
Dude, just think about the insurance! I'm 24, have a good job am married and I wouldn't even be able to afford the payment/insurance combo you're looking at for an STI. It's best to get a POS for your first car and get all of your learning out of the way. You may not think it now, but you have a lot of growing to do behind the wheel.

please don't buy an STi
ok i really don't mean that. the majority of us in here are above the mid twenties(ahem) insurance is high enough on an wrx- can u imagine an sti? but that is the least of my worries. i think the most important question you should ask yourself is what do you plan to do with your car? although not spoken but with all that power it can be very tempting. my plea is this- before you buy consider your needs/wants. i had the unfortunate experience of talking to a mother whose son bought a wrx from us and dying in a crash 2 weeks later. he just turned 18. wrx's/sti's are awesome cars and need to be treated with respect and responsibly driven
