the ECU is only going to record if it sees something that would throw a CEL. When that happens, it will take a snapshot of all the data so the dealer can see what was hapening when the CEL was checked.

the ECU does not log all the data from your car all the time for no reason, that would take a lot of storage.

just set it at 16lbs (.11 mpa) and you shouldnt blow anything up. a lot of people run boost controllers on these cars, and as long as you're conservative and know the limit, you should be fine. people blow up motors from cranking up the boost too much. if you're worrying about the life of the turbo, running 16lbs of boost will reduce the life faster than the stock 14.Xlbs. these turbos are a dime a dozen and hell if it breaks, just upgrade the turbo.
