Better value new or used??
I just can't decide so I thought I'd get some opinions. Am I better off buying new or used. I was looking at used wrx's and it seems as if I might be better off buying new. These cars seem to hold their value pretty well so I'm trying to convince myself to go new. Do you guys think I'm better off in the long run getting a new 05 that costs $5000 more than a used 02 with no warranty? I can afford the payments, so that's not really an issue. I'd go with a slightly used 04, but they're very hard to come by.
If I go new, crystal grey or platinum silver, any advice or opinions?
Also, I really want the short throw shifter and the boost gauge. Am I better off going after market for these items? Are the savings significant and will doing these mods void the warranty?
Thanks,
Chris

go aftermarket
Do not get the factory boost gauge. It is way to expensive. I have an 05 and it was already installed on mine, but they charge way to much for the thing like 310.00 I think. If you do buy a wrx I have an autometer boost gauge I will practicly give you. Good luck on the search. Oh yeah I say go new just my opinion.

With how much you can get a new 05 for (22-23k) vs. a used you might as well go with the new and get the warranty and new colors and updates for tranny and steering.

What were the updates on the tranny and steering? I was unaware of this.
Kind of leaning away from the sti due to the insurance costs. Besides, the wrx has plenty of power for me! Although, I think I'll be picking up an aftermarket set of those sti rims (lightweight and look good).
Forgive my lack of knowledge, but will the autometer boost gauge hook up and work the same as the factory one? If so, I think I'd be interested, thanks!
After thinking about it, I'm almost sure that I'm gonna go new. I test drove the old and new and really liked the new interior and smaller diameter steering wheel, although the older interior had a certain appeal in it's own (more driver oriented). I plan on keeping this car for many years to come so I think I'd be better off knowing how it was treated before me.
I don't quite understand the auto dimming mirror option. Does this mean that the mirror dims when a car is behind you with their brights on?

new
Yes. The autometer will hook up just like the factory unit. The auto dim mirror(which was also already on my car) dims when light hits it. Its pretty nice not having to adjust it costs like 183.00 or something. If you do decide to go new and would like the factory boost gauge instead of the autometer I will also sell you that, but I will need your steering column cover so that I dont have a big hole. I will of course send you mine with the gauge. Again good luck in the choice.
