I totally agree, keep it in with the "Rally Heritage" and only offer Stick, like the STi.

okay, i didn't read what other people posted, but here is my share...

I purchased a 01RS in 2000 because my mom said I don't know how to drive a stick so I should get an auto. I didn't care at the time because I just needed a car to get to work (I had no idea what Subaru was all about at the time).

Sold and purchased a 02RS in 2001 because I was sick and tired of the 4EAT. I got into autox, and TSD rally after I got my 01RS. NO ONE wanted to buy my car because it was a 4EAT. And it was a pretty darn new car, people rather buy a new car than buying mine. I had to put money into it to get rid of it.

When I got my 02RS, the lady at Santa Cruz Subaru asked me if I had any question or problem. I said, "I don't know how to drive it home". She was like, "what do you mean?" I didn't know how to drive a stick shift. I knew how to drive one 'theoretically', so I just 'stalled' my way home. I was driving up the SF hills the following weekend.

Recently, I sold my 02RS to get rid of the payments to get a condo. So I ended up with a 98 Protege 4EAT. Unable to shift and zip around town is a NIGHTMARE!

So save yourself, get a standard tranny.

Good luck!

Leo

Standard.

Do yourself a favor and get the short throw shifter, if you think you can handle the standard trans. (my apologies if this has already been suggested). It is so tight!

Not only do you have more control of the power of the turbo, but you can also can get better gas milage.

If you go with the automatic, I heard the dealerships will throw in training wheels for no additional cost.

(just a joke folks, I hope none of you automatic people take that personal), he he.
