Any '09 owners here?
I'm in the market for a "family" car and was looking into getting a FXT. Recent rumblings on the internet regarding engines failing has me rethinking this. Just wondering if anyone on I-Club has had problems. There's a long thread on nabisco regarding this as well as other forums but I've seen nothing here.

Glad you got your car back quickly. There have been engine failures on the other 2.5 turbo models too. Maybe I'd better stick to the N/A Forester or look into something else.

The nasioc thread (2nd link in the 1st post) has more info. Subaru has not made any formal statement however they are prompt in replacing engines w/ little or no questions asked.

There is a new guy who is racing an s2000 who raced at nationals a 2008 sti.
He was on his 3rd motor before he moved to hondas. I don't know if this helps you, but i thought i'd give it a shot. Also, i'm looking at a 2010 suabru as well, sharing the same concerns as you.
