Any BMW owners on here?
I just bought a pre-owned E39 M5 and was wondering which Bimmer dealerships are cool, and which ones to avoid. I've been having some electrical issues with the car, real minor though. Just wanted to get them fixed under warranty. The car is AWESOME otherwise. Gotta love that V8 torque.

Take it to Dinan in morgan hill no matter what. All of their aftermarket parts will not void BMW factory warranty, but if you need warranty work, we have been pretty happy with Stevens Creek BMW.

I'm a recovering former BMW owner who had to learn a lot of this the hard way:
Most BMW dealerships have totally outrageous shop rates, like $175-200/ hour- which most of their customers can afford and so they don't worry about it. Unfortunately not all dealerships have technicians with the skills to be justified in charging that much.
Once you are out of warranty there's no reason to visit the dealerships, cause some of the best independant shops on the west coast are right here- if you are down by Dinan I'd suggets them too, if you are up near Berkeley Bavarian Professionals on 7th Street is a first rate shop, and if you're over in Marin I'd tell you to visit Bill Arnold in San Rafael.
Not that any of these shops are exactly cheap- but they do have people who really know their stuff, so money spent with them is money well spent.

If you ever need service on it check out wolfgangs foreign car service in Walnut Creek.

I bring mine into Palo Alto Bimmer when I have something I can't fix myself. They are really fair priced. The stealerships WILL rip you off. Do some research on indy shops. There are a lot of good ones that keep thier prices low.
