i need some help....my airbag light keeps coming on, and its scaring me, i dont want it to randomly go off and potentialy cause an accident or break my arm...it just decides to come on a few miles down the road, ive found it happens more often if the car was parked at a somewhat steep angle when it was started, but im not sure if thats exactly whats causing it, cause its happened when it was parked perfectly flat too, any indeas??

 

earlier today i did a bit of parking at inclines and it didnt CAUSE it to happen down the road but it happened more frequently than if i parked on a level surface, if that helps anyone

Don't worry about the airbag going off in your face. Usually when the light comes on the SRS is de-activated to prevent any false activation.

I would take it to a dealer if the car is under warrenty. The impact sensor can be faulty, one or more of the circuits (gas generators) can be open, and/or a short in the wiring can be causing this.

did you put in new seats by any chance?

 

^^ what he said- if u did the connector under the seat may be loose or installed incorrectly- if stock seats check the connectors anyway. if light persists just take it back to the dealer to make sure. i know the feeling of the airbag light thing. deep down inside we all know that subarus are safe cars...but its just that light that tries to scare us into thinking otherwise

 

no new seats, but im gonna check for shorts *whips out uh...a multimeter*
