'93L Engine miss 1.8
First hello folks. I'm a regular over at subaruforester.com as we have one of those too(wifey has the Forester). After I figured out how much fun the subie's were, I ditched my Expy for a motorcycle and an Impreza
The Impreza is a fun little car I have to admit. But this thing is driving me nuts as far as narrowing down this engine miss thing. It hiccups/misses between 1500 and 2500 rpm which of course is where it spends most of it's time while cruising around town. It's not terribly consistent either. Sometimes it's more pronounced than other days. I've done all I can save for spending the $$$ on the biggy's TPS, MAF and coil.
It idles smooth..like a sewing machine. When you get past 3k rpm it pulls hard (it's a 1.8, lets keep that in context) to red line. I replaced the cam and crank sensors. Checked the resistance on the injectors, they are all the same. Replaced the plugs, plug wires and checked the coil for corrosion...there is none. I've ran seafoam through it directly into the intake manifold as well as running a couple bottles of Techron through the gas tank. I also replaced the fuel filter....yeah, I know..whatever.
I posted this problem over at the UltimateSubaru forum and got a big goose egg for my verbosity O_O. I guess I stumped them all :\
I've lurked here quite a bit and done a bunch of searching. There were a couple folks with the same problem I have but they never posted back with a fix, which really sux.
Thanks in advance!
Brent

I swapped out the o2 sensor last night...that wasn't it. Now I'm thinking EGR solenoid as I tested the EGR valve and it works as it should. Who was the smart guy that decided where that solenoid should go? Ughhh!!
