2006 WRX oil change

I am about to do my first oil change in the WRX. Through searching, Ive seen ppl taking out the bottom splash guard in order to perform the task. But if you look at the splash guard, Subaru has already done cutouts in the plastic so you can reach up and grab the plug and filter w/o removing the whole thing. So has anyone done it like this before?

It's better to remove it. I tried to but it was going to get messy so I took the thing off.

I agree it will be alot easier and better to remove
the splash guard when doing your engine oil changes.
I remove my splash guard everytime I change my oil.
It is also every easy to remove.

I wouldn't leave it off permanently, the whole point of the undercarridge(sp?) is to protect the engine from stray rocks bouncing up in there.

Yes its easy to remove. Just did my 1st oil change last week. Basically, its 5 10mm bolts and 4 plastic clips remvoed with a flat head, all in all it was an easy off and on. But these clips will loosen/break after many trials, so stock up on some from the stealership.
