It's cheaper to just buy a WRX in the first place than it is to do the swap, trust me. You can get a used WRX for just slightly more than a new RS, so definitely onsider that. If you do end up with an RS, there isn't a lot that you can do to it pwoer wise. Without cams/heads you'll never make much more than 200 hp at the crank. Suspension wise though, that car has an excellent chassis platform and can be modded to outrun an Integra Type R.

I have an 04 RS and I will say I'm happy with it 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I would like more power. The handling is excellent, but I want to improve it. I've already fitted 17s and a 20mm RSB. I thinkin' maybe next year I'll try and get Tein suspension under it, but we'll see. As far as power Ban Suvs is right if you go bolt-on N/A you could probably get close to 200hp. With a turbo kit you could get more. Probably as much 280-300, but around 230-250 is more realistic on stock internals. If you guys are asking why I'd go through the trouble on a mere RS there are two major reasons. One insurance is alot cheaper and two I like modifying as much as driving. There's more room for improvement as well as disposable income for the me with the RS. That being said yes speed is alot of fun, but usually gets me in trouble so I want to concentrate on the handling, but more power will come eventually. Lastly and more to the point I don't regret buying this car as I still have funds for my other interests like snowboarding and I can honestly say this is the best car I've ever owned. It even beats out my old Celica All-Trac turbo.

Good luck finding an $8000 RS. Figure more like $12-13k for a good one. If it's below $10,000 it's either being sold by a desperate owner or is beat to hell.
