10w-30 oil in a rex??

anyone ever use 10w-30 oil in their engine?

ive herard that it will actually slow u down though!

but somesay the heavier weight is better in higher altitudes!

anyone know what they are talking about??

There is a chart in your owners manual with recommended viscosities vs. ambient temperatures. If you look at that chart you'll see that both 5W30 and 10W30 are acceptable for most temp ranges. Since you're in CA you should be fine with 10W30 year-round.

I just switched to 10W30 after 4 years of using 5W30 and there is no difference in power or acceleration.

10W30 works fine. I do recommend Synthetic.

thats what I've used now 3 times in a row. MPG has gone up by 1 or 2 but that might be power of persuasion (well, I mean it actually has gone up, but it might have nothing to do with the oil) before that I was using that Q stuff most of the time.

I also put that mobil 1 clean 7500 in my moms car because she drives an insane amount and usually goes about that distance before telling me she needs her oil changed

There's not much to improve MPG, just keep the subbie tuned as best as you can. That's all you can ask for.

ta mpg improvement as far as ive seen only has gotten better when i put octane boosters in but i still am only at 200miles to a tank!
i have an 03 wrx and supposedly i have a 16 gallon tank to mpg is bad!
