04 test drive questions
Had the opportunity to test drive the 04 WRX today and I must say that it comes in a nice package. However, while approaching a turn in 3rd gear (5speed) near redline, I let off the throttle and the car jerked quite violently and almost threw me off line. One can repilcate this feeling in 1st gear at a slow speed and letting off the gas.
Has anybody experienced this before? Sorry if I am not too clear.
Other than this and the wind noise by the driverside mirror, the car was quite impressive.
Thanks for the help.
PS. does anybody know invoice pricing in Canada?

This is completely normal; I believe it has to do with the turbo spooling, but I don't know exactly.
The wrx needs a gentle on/off with the gas pedal. Gently 'on' because it is awd and doesn't "snap" off the line like a 2wd, gently 'off' because at high revs there's a turbo spooling up and it doesn't like to be shocked by letting off it suddenly.
The car teaches you how to drive it.
And yes, it is quite impressive! =)
cheers!

Thanks for the replies everyone, I don't have any turbo experience so that will take some getting used to. Will a BOV help that situation at all?????
The dealership has a dedicated tester car, so that will not be the one I would purchase if I decide on one.

that bouncing you experienced is the car saying, " what are you doing?"
but yeah dude, the car will let you know how to drive her. believe me the possiblities are endless when it comes to modifying your car. one year later @ 32000 miles i STILL love to drive my car!(eg. in 1st holdin@4000, then suddenly flooring it and watching my rpms rip up to 6000 in no time !) i do that when i think i need to add a smile to my day.
