but, thats the car business! on another note - has anyone ever walked into a mercedes/bmw/lotus dealership and asked to pay invoice? just wondering(i know. . . a subaru is not a m/b/l)

I actually never have been able to walk into a dealership in person and get invoice. I have either called, or sent an E-mail. every time I walk into a dealer they attempt to give me the shaft on price in person. Since im not one to argue and soft spoken, I walk. I always pay very close to invoice even on luxury cars such as my Volvo S80(which I know isnt too difficult) Also found my rents a 1999 Merc E320 for close to invoice back in 99'. If thought about, for cars that the invoice is 3k-4k less than the MSRP is like knocking down a year of car note at the get go. Helps off-set Depreciation, etc. etc. If you have the time then haggle. If you do pay MSRP/Dont like to Travel/or whatever, id make sure the dealer is local and have a history of good customer service, sales experience, Repair bay, and convience. Then it is definately worth it.
