I get about 22.5 mpg about half city, half hwy. I have a stock 2002 WRX wagon with about 75,000 miles. Mileage went up after I replaced the plugs recently by about 1.5 miles per gallon. I was getting an 20 - 21 before. When the car was newer I did get 27 on a long mostly hwy trip.

I've got an Excel spreadsheet on my Pocket PC where I track the gas mileage everytime I fill up. I'll post my results when I get home tonight. Do these forums have the ability to post Excel or zip files?

21.2 MPG today when I put in 13.25 gallons. That's the lowest in my last 4 fill-ups, but I have been running higher speeds than usual and I noticed that the tires were down by a couple of pounds. I'll see what happens next time.

I have been averaging 21.6 mpg in my 03 wrx. I mostly drive in stop-n-go traffic to and from work. Since my car is a commutor my only power mods are an HKS catback and Samco intercooler hoses. I only use 76 and Chevron gas and I get very similar mileage w/ both types. On a tahoe trip I got a high of 26.2 and a low of 19.2 at car control clinic. Here is my excel chart...

Is it true that certain mods will add horsepower and raise the gas mileage? Which mods would do this?

I just got back from a four day trip to the Mojave desert and Vegas. A mini vacation for desert driving and hiking. Most expensive gas was at Goff, CA... the only gas station for 50 miles around and they charged what they damned well pleased: $3.27 per gal. Average was around $2.30. The four days was 1603 total miles: 1060 was getting there and back, 543 mi running all over the Mojave. MPG for the whole trip was 24.6. Low tank was 22.3 MPG, this was all driven in the Mojave National Preserve. Best tank was 27.5 MPG, all freeway from Jean, NV to Wasco, CA., today. Not too bad on a WRX Sedan w/225 rubber and 17' rims.

Average of last three gassups: 22.03 MPG. Average since mid-February (without long trips, my weekly routine driving): 21.9 MPG. Average since mid-February including long trips: 23.4 MPG.

Things have changed since February. When I gassed up today Chevron Supreme was $2.79/gal. in Davis. Gas out the marina today was $3.30/gal. for mid-range unleaded... boat users pay additional state fuel taxes.
