Actually anyone who gets the Subaru magazine they send out and looks at it would have seen the WRX police car. It was for some New England town.

 

Given the car is RHD, the website ends in "AU", and the term NSW is on the pic..... I'd deduce that it was from New South Wales, Australia, Dr. Watson.

 

Let me clarify my statement, I dont know if the above picture is legit but their is a wrx police car.

Yup. Thats Australia and registered in the NSW Police force. Victoria has a number of them as well. And as someone correctly pointed out, the police took a few of these to keep up with big number of AWD turbos that were running circles around the big fat heavy V8's they used to drive in the inner city.

The WRX's have been around here in Aust. since the early 90's and were huge amongst the ram raiders. AWD traction on glass and tiles and a boot big enuff to put stuff in, meant it was popular. Not only that it would leave the big cop cars for dead.

From what I know, there were no STi's in being used, but I do remember reading some article about a highway patrol officer having a ride in an STi. His comments were "... no wonder we can't catch these things!... " So yeah, WRX's here are infamous/famous however you wanna look at it. The visually heavily modded ones are almost always scoped out by police unfortunately..

 

I saw on the news here a few days ago that in vancouver, wa they're starting to use wrx's as cop cars to catch speeders and traffic violators, they look completly stock except for the police lights in the front and rear windows.

 

aaahh.h... looks like the cops are catching on already!

Took a while for the Aus. police to see the light. They simply couldn't catch a car that was lighter, better traction and faster around the city and tight streets in their big clunky V8's.

 

There are police out there in the WRX. There is a cop in a WRX a little south of here. He pretends to race you, but he doesn't take off. The WRX has a tint and a bov so it doesn't look or sound like a cop. Be on the watch.

 

If the cop is the one who "instigates" the race, that's called Entrapment......Of course when it come's to being in court, the Judge isn't likely to believe a (so-perceived) "Riceboy" over a sworn in law "enforcement" officer.......
