I like them both. Granted, when I saw the new body style, it pushed me to purchase. But, I would have bought the '03 just the same. I see them as being two different cars, they both look great and I would not take anything away from either of them. What pushed me to the new style was the fact that this car is a long term purchase for me. I want it to look current for as long as I own the car, or for most of the time. Besides, different styles make things more interesting. Can you imagine looking at the same car over and over again.

and I can say the 04 grows on you a lot. When they came in to the dealer I was hard pressed to get the 04 over the 03. My 02 was totalled and I waited to see what the new body would look like. The headlights look much better and are MUCH BRIGHTER. The fogs work better, but don't look as nice. I really like the 04 euro model with the middle sized fogs. Everything on the inside looks beter. The seat cloth is interesting though. Looks much better and sportier and feels better, but if you eat anything crumby in your car it is the worst cloth fro crumbs. I eat my breakfast every morning in the car (muffin or poptart) on the way to work, and I do so carefully, but the crumbs will not brush off the seat like in my 02. They get stuck in the holes of the cloth and must be vacumed out. Very annoying, but no big deal I guess. I love the red on the dash and momo wheel. The tail lights are OK. Like was mentioned earlier I got the 04 to have the current model, because as with every other subaru car released I hated the new style when I first saw it, but after a month of seeing them I liked them better. (WRX when they first came out versus the old impreza 2.5rs and new versus old outback come to mind). When I saw my 04 the first night I went home and told my wife some things are better and some are worse. She asked why I would consider getting it over the 03 if it isn't better in everything. I waited to go see it the next day and it already grew on me so I bought it. I now like it much better than my 02. One of the things that really pissed me off with the 02 was the first time my wife saw it she said it looked like a neon. It didn't to me, but that comment stuck with me. Now the new one looks like one of the hyndais I see around all the time. I see them go by in the other lane all the time and the headlights look like a match so I look, and I'm like damn another hyndia...

Love my 04 anyway though...

i agree, its a toss up for the exterior looks.

what about leather seats for '04? are they available yet? i got a yellow lab dog who's needle-like hairs get stuck in my Southwest Airlines seats are are tuff to get out even with a good vacuum...i need leather or vinyl.
