wrx buying help

Hey all. I'm a noob here and need some help.
I appreciate any help you guys can give.
I am planning on buying a wrx this summer.

-Which year WRX should I buy? 02, 03, 04? I can't afford an STi, so that is out of the question. Is there a huge advantage to going with the 04?

-I noticed that some of the wrx's I've seen have front mounts IC's and some have top mount. What comes stock and what is better? With the small stock hood scoop, I was thinking that the front mount might be more effective?

Get the cheapest new WRX you can. The options are all a little overpriced. You can get stuff that works as well or better for less money later. I personally would avoid a used WRX unless I knew the buyer personally or he/she is well known on the boards. Used WRXs tend to be beaten like redheaded step-mules.

Top mount is stock, and it's plenty good up to around 300 horsepower. Front mounts are for bling factor, or major kick-*** horsepower.

Let me first say thanks for replying.

I have a friend whose gf has a 02 and I know how she drives...very nicely.

It only has less than 15k on it.

I am prolly going to get that one.

u should get the 04 or the STi cause u want the best of the best. its kinda late to b buying an 02 isnt it.. =) but whatever floats your boat

plus u can get 02's pretty cheap nowdays.

If you can afford the 04' the advantage is that you will be getting a brand new car and not someone else's (possiable) problem vehicle, if you prefer the bug-eye look, then go with one that has low miles, the options you want and has been throughly checked out by a good mechanic.......also (IMO) stay away from a car that has mod's unless you trust the person who did the work, or can verify the work was done by a qualified person......this will (most likely) save you a lot of head aches in the long run
