What's My WRX worth? Divorce proceedings ...

I paid $25,200 for my '03 WRX Wagon back in December ...

I've added about $7,500 worth of mods ...

It has 12,000+ miles on it ...

What's it's Value?

My soon to be ex-wife thinks $32,000 ...

I need this info when I list my Assets ...

thanks!

im assuming that you want your car value to be lower than that number, which it is I think. Take it to a used car dealership and sound interested in some expensive truck or something worth alot more then your vehicle. Get a trade in sheet from them where they offer you like 17,000 for your vehicle and try to use that as proof of value.

I think your car is worth about 25,000 MAX. Yeah you put 7,500 in upgrades but KBB doesnt care and thats what a court will use probably if you dont have something else. A dealer wouldnt care too much about what upgrades you have in it if you trade it in. The only way your car is worth 30k is if you find a private buyer and even then with 12,000 miles I dont think you will see that.

Get a written estimate from the dealer. At this point the WRX + mods represents much more of a debt than an asset which for your situation you need documented.

Your wife thinks it's worth $32k? If so, let HER keep the WRX if she thinks it's worth that much. Just tell her that it can be one of her assets. It may magically be worth less then.

If she keeps the WRX, you can cash-in whatever you get in return (that $32K will buy an STi, right)! Good luck, man.
