They first came out as a 2002 model, so you could have gotten one in 2001.

 

my friend and i know someone who ordered their wrx in 2001. when he got it, someone said he paid over 30k for it. if that is true, what an idiot, but on the other hand a good car enthusiast who was anxious. good for him after all

 

I picked my WRX wagon up on March 24, 2001 and paid less than MSRP. As far as I know, I was the third person to pick up a WRX from Carlsen Subaru. They had several on the lot when I picked mine up, but they were all pre-sold.
