what makes the pulsing sound of the wrx?
I love the sound of the wrx, the way it makes the pulsing sound of the boxer motor. I have a 00 2.5 and wanted to know if it is possible to have my car sound like that.

The sound you are talking about is created by the turbo "cuttingup" the exhaust pulse before it reaches the outlet. Most Turbo four cylinders sound that way, but the WRX does have a different sound thanks to the throaty sound of the boxer.

Car Info: 02' WRX
the main reason is that one side of the headers is so much longer than the other, resulting in an offset sound, which gives it that throbbing sound. The other is the turbo turbine disrupting the pulses.
