What is the best Short Shifter and Turbo Timer?
I'm going out to buy a turbo timer and a short shifter probably tonight and I was wondering what you guys thought were the best ones on the market. I'm thinking of going with the Blitz DTT Turbo Timer ($130) and a Kartboy Short Shifter with Bushings ($125). Are there any suggestions to change my list with any better parts? Thanks.

What are the best Turbo Timer and Short Shifter?
Thanks for backing me up on the Kartboy, are there any that are better than it, the vivid racing one, or the perrin? I don't really know. But more importantly, what about the turbo timer, what is the best turbo timer on the market? Thanks.

I hear Blitz DTT is one of the best... I was going to buy one but I realize that I have no life and can thus sit in my car and idle it manually

Someone please Help Me Make A Decision On My Turbo Timer And Short Shifter!!
I have no idea who I should listen to when I go to buy a short shifter or a Turbo timer. What makes one better than another (I know that a good short shifter will shorten throws more, but which one actually shortens your shifts the most)? Hope someone out there can help.

If you buy a short shifter your going to get the actual shift lever itself.
If you buy the STi shifter (2-300$iirc) you get the complete linkage that attaches to the tranny. Its completely redesigned to shorten the throws the propper way.
I cant perfectly explain the difference, but the STi gives a shorter shift with no increase in the amount of pressure needed to shift the car.
Perrin makes an adapter that allows you to keep the stock shift lever and is height adjustable. This is a good piece because it retains the rubber isolation inside the stock lever. Making it one of the only options that will not increase interior noise. But its not cheap at $90.
I have driven a few cars with just a short shifter like I have, and I have driven a car with the STi shifter. The STi is far better imho.
When you install a solid rod shifter you will notice an increase in tranny noise inside the car. This should be minimal with both the perrin and the STi shifter.
Also i have been told that if you install a short shift lever you increase the amount of pressure on the tranny itself and it can wear the syncros out. I dont know how true it is, but it makes sense to me.
Not enough to keep me from using my ILP because nothing is actually "good" for the car anyways
If you can afford it I can almost garentee you will be satisfied with the STi shifter.
I hope this helps.
Does anyone know if the STi shifter is warranty friendly?

So to answer your question about the turbo timer...
Theres all sorts of them. Do you need all sorts of stupid bells and whistles? Or do you just want the basic needs. They have some that give you all sorts of performance numbers. That would be good for comparing mods on your car, like before and after. But not so good otherwise because they can be off quite a bit.
The most important thing you want to know is if you can get the wiring harness for the WRX. They make direct plug in harnesses, best way to go.

i have the blitz tt and the sti short shifter and i recommend them both. i think the blitz also looks better because you can hide the main part of the module and all there is is the lcd part which will look nicely next to the cup holder. and as for the short shifter, i would defininetly recommend the STI. you get the short throw without the added tightness that some other short shifter will give ya. although i have checked out and wanted the Cobb Tuning dual adjustable shifter. not only can you adjust the throw by up to 70% but also the height of the shifter. $150 is alot though.

What is the best Short shifter
Thanks guys, you have sold me on the Blitz DTT turbo timer, but I am still a little unsure as to what is better Kartboy? sti? or cobb tuning? If anyone can give me some kind of difinitive proof of what is the best short shifter on the market for performance (forget interior noise, just what is the easiert to throw, how short are the throws, and how good is it for the car) I would be really happy. Thanks again.
