Warranty ??

I have had a 02 wrx for 5 months now, and I bought it from a dealer, with a spt exhaust and full sti suspension, I was wondering would adding headers, uppipe, or bov void the warranty. I purchased it with a 3yr 36000 mile powertrain extended warranty

Thanks guys!!!

Most likely would void the warranty on components that involve the exhaust. The bov would likely void the warranty on the turbo and some other things (which makes sense, it's a pointless mod that actually can cause you problems).

Depends on the dealership, and if you actually end up taking in the car for warranty work. If you dont want to risk it, dont do it.

so basically if i take it to the dealership for installation it might not affect the warranty?
I guess I'll have to call them up

umm no thats not true.

the way things work is if you have an aftermarket part and you have a problem and that part is anywhere near or in some way works with what broke in the smallest way, then they will deny your claim stating that the aftermarket part caused the problem (regardless of wether it did or not)

Dealerships dont touch aftermarket parts. If you call them and ask them about it, they might decide to void your warranty just for asking that (if they are one of the horrible dealerships out there)

If you want to modify a car, buy a used one without a warranty and stop worrying about what will void your warranty.

some dealerships are mod friendly, some are not. Around here, you would be fine with the up-pipe, exhaust, and suspension - the headers would probably be questionable, though... it depends on what you need fixed. Ask the local dealerships what is ok, and what is not - otherwise, wait until the warranty is gone, then mod away. Not sure what they would say about a bov - all you really place at risk are the cats if you run rich - or if the bov isn't very good, you could kill the turbo with compressor surge (the pre-cat in the up-pipe is a high-flow metallic one, so it probably wouldn't grenade on you)

Haha, I had turboback (catless), up-pipe, ***ECU***, BOV, and CAI and they never voided my warranty. Hell, one of the local dealerships actually sold aftermarket parts (ie Cobb).
