Blow off valve covered in warranty??
I have a newbie question for a fresh WRX owner. I just purchased and installed the HKS blow off valve and I would like to know if anyone out there knows if it will void my warranty from the factory?? Also I'm interested in installing a AEM cold air intake...Would that be under warranty as well??

As another newbie I'm not going to swear to it but from what I understand you basically void your warranty if you put anything on the car that is not on the dealers approved list of parts, even if the part is of a superior nature. I have a blow off valve on my WRX, thanks to my son, but you can put the stock part back on in a few minutes if you have to go to the dealer.

As far as those parts voiding the whole warranty, it really differs depending on which dealer you take your car to. Some say the dealer has to prove that your aftermarket parts caused problems to void warranty , but it seems like a lot of dealers want to screw you up over a worn tire (abuse..so they say).
Modifying your car means a lot of money(not just parts). Be responsible.

The problem is that SOA knows that most people won't press them on this issue and fight back. The fact of the matter is that if you walk into a dealer with a faulty strut, they can't blame your aftermarket BOV or intake for it. On the other hand, I wouldn't expect them to diagnose or fix a misfire CEL if you have those same parts. So in essence, it all depends on what your problem is and what parts you have replaced.

horror story
apparenty a guy goes into a dealer cause he is having some problems with the engine, turns out one of the SOC guys walks in and looks at the car and sees a bov, tells the dealer the warranty is voided because of the bov and he will "label" the car warranty as voided in the system so all the dealers know.....yikes

Not necessarily, on some components they will have a paint line across the nut and bolt. If this line is broken they will be able to tell, sometimes even if you paint over it.
