the jdm sti is still faster bone stock than the bone stock usdm sti but a little bit. thats because jdm stis come with less cats and has more hp to the wheels, if the usdm sti came with less cats it would have more hp to the wheels.
the impreza's are assembled in gunma japan, the japanese made the 2.5 to help sales in usa. the could easily have the 2.5 also but they dont want it because over there they have regulations that races have 2.0L engines only. their sti's running high 12''s bone stock. over there, over here if u take off the cats its illegal, but if u want ur usdm2.5 to run high 12's ur gona need to take off some cats.

remember hp at the crank and at the wheels are completely different. its useless to have lots of hp at the crank when there so much restricting it to the wheels, whiich are the cats and smaller piping. no worries, the usdm sti will be a monster waiting to be released as soon as those chains are taken off.

Not to be a dick but either way without major suspension work ANY near stock STi is NOT going to mess with Dori Kin's AE86.... He is the innovator of modern Togue racing. I'm sure that car is set up beyond most of our wildest dreams..... Anyone remember Pupsy?

yea thats true, that was his krazy fixed up krazy trueno, but the sTi can easily surpass that. just need mods and no cats, that trueno was catless. max out the suspension capabalities of the STi vs the max of his trueno, its overs.

My friend Noah, has a 10 second civic that he won't even race unless it's against a viper, lambo or other high performance exotic and there is at least 500 dollars on the line. You guys may remember him from the Super Tuner T.V. S.W.A.P. team segment he was the guy with the pony tail who was the suspension tech... Has some crazy JDM cams in it that get 20 more WHP then ITR cams.... The thing is a LHD civic coupe non-hatch body.... Just pure insanity. High 10 second timeslips at LACR (yeah anyone who knows about LACR knows what i'm talking about...
